#droidrage?

So Microsoft has decided to start playing dirty with FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt). Their evangelist on Twitter, @Benthepcguy, has started a promotion (which he says will end soon) wherein he's offering free Windows Phones to anyone who's had issues with malware/viruses on Android.

His timing couldn't be better, as it's been discovered that WP7 has a nice little crippling bug with its text messaging system which crashes handsets and disables the Messaging hub. Granted, it seems this mudslinging marketing technique is working in his favor so far-he's gotten responses from people complaining about their Android issues.

No OS is perfect, and I'm willing to accept that. What I get annoyed with is when one company will exaggerate issues that another company's product has just to gain business. It's dirty, dishonest, and low.

Thanks for listening to this little rant.

Today after two years of Android, I have had it. Once again I took a picture to post to facebook and it erased all my pics on my droid x. I have been to the verizon store more times this month and every month than I go to the grociery store. From freezing up, my battery cover is loosing the paint from having to remove the battery all the time. I think this is like the fifth phone from asurion.Over and over every other month. I have had it up to here with this peicce of crap. Go into Verizon, "oh you can't use that app or that app is in conflict." They have me all the way down to a phone that I will not download apps on. Send it away to Asurion because they sent me a phone with no speaker volume get a new one back, have to reboot it and turn it on and the screen is faded, send it back. Finally I get one that works and all I want is to take a picture and put it on facebook. No apps installed, brand new card, I have $200 DOLLARS IN CARDS because this card must not be good, thank VERIZON!! GUESS WHAT! Click take a picture erased all 47 of my pictures. I dont dare install a backup app because it might conflict with something else and I have to do the 100 battery removals a day thing again. I can take the battery out of a Drouid faster than anyone else, I bet I hold the record. I can't stand Itunes and the apple format, I would love to see android kick butt on Microsoft. But for the love of god, I can't take it anymore. I am at the point I dont want to use my phone because I don't want it to screw up. I am going to look at a Windows phone, I can tell you already I wont like it, but damn already. If those are the only glitches with windows phones I'll take it. I am tired of being on droid forums constantly trying to figure out what happened here, why did it do this, why did it do that. When none of the Verizon stores can figure it out and I have to GET ON THE PHONE WITH ASURION. Please send me another phone, all the Verizon stores including the corporate ones says this is a dud. I dont know, just want to take a picture and post it, not reboot all the time. SIGH.

I'm sorry that you're having so many issues. But they're probably due to the fact that the phone is from Asurion way more than it being an Android phone. My Droid X rarely, if ever, had any issues. Asurion replacements have ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS, sucked. I would demand a *brand new* phone from Asurion instead of a refurbished replacement.

You're obviously part of a very tiny minority who are having major issues with their Android phone. The Facebook deleting your photos problem is an issue with the actual FB app and not the Android operating system. It happens to a lot of people. Here is a thread with others reporting the same problem: http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/456877-phone-deleting-pictures-after-uploading-facebook.html

Downloading incompatible apps shouldn't be causing any issues either. Incompatible apps will likely not even appear on your market, and if they do, there will be a disclaimer in the app description telling you which models are supported. In any case, downloading an incompatible app shouldn't cause any problems. I've downloaded incompatible apps multiple times and nothing has ever happened to my phone.

The freezing is obviously a hardware or software issue with your particular device. The Android platform is very stable and very rarely freezes or crashes. I'm a demanding user who pushes my phone to the limit and it has never frozen on me in the 2.5 months that I've owned it.

I would suggest asking for a brand new replacement device. The refurbished devices they are giving you as replacements are always going to be broken themselves. You can run into a lemon on any platform, but that's no reason to discredit the entire platform.
