Drop Test

always thought those tests were kinda pointless, so many variables to take into account that you cant really use the tests those people do, the video only shows tests based on luck, ive seen plenty of tests show my old iphone 3g do poorly, but i must have dropped in about 30-40 times, no a scratch on it.

Drop survival is a matter of luck. It is all in the physics in how it hits and lands. I think the other day someone said their device was broken with a 6 inch fall to a cork floor while others have survived horrendous falls onto concrete.

why people that spend good money on high dollar smart phones don't get a good case, like the otterbox, is beyond me. i got my one s the day it was released, and babied the hell out of it for about a month before otterbox released a defender case for it... and i bought that on release day as well.
$50 to protect it, or $130 to replace it. real tough call there.

For me the Otterbox cases makes the phone even larger. Not an option. I do use the CaseMate Barely There to cover the back which adds little size or bulk to a already large device. It has a great texture like my Thinkpads.

I guess it is what you are willing to do to protect your device. I have not dropped my phone in over a year and yet some here do it on a daily basis.

There was one muppet on Youtube who got his new Galaxy S2 and, having read how strong Gorilla Glass was, decided to try scratching it with his car keys....lo and behold it scratched. They should give Darwin Awards to people like this.
