Dropbox App - Issue uploading pictures

LoBatt

Android Enthusiast
I took some pictures while Dropbox was running and I see them in the Dropbox folder on the sd card but they don't seem to be uploading. I can't see them on the Dropbox web site or on my other computers. What am I missing?

Dropbox on the Android isn't quite as easy on the desktop (or the iPhone as I look at the help).

1) Go to where you want the file to be in Dropbox (on the phone)
2) Click Settings button then Upload
3) Locate the file to upload it

Does that help? Honestly, I don't use Dropbox to upload to my phone as much as downloading.

Another tip: It's nice to have a syncable text file everywhere. I can type in my grocery list (saved to Dropbox) and it's wherever I am. No more forgetting the list!

That worked. Thanks. I was under the impression that it would upload pictures automatically if taken while Dropbox was running. The pictures went to the Dropbox folder on the sd card but they didn't upload. I guess you have to manually upload each one.

Yea, you do on the app. However, the desktop version will automatically upload anything you put into the folder. They're still working on the app (hopefully).

good advice..

I use the hell out of DB across all 5 of my computers, love it. but the Droid app was weak and minimal storage - unless you paid $2 - so I bailed on it as I don't see much usage for it on the Droid because the things I use across computers and numerous and interchangeable while that is rare for the Droid. so I just mount it as a drive on my computer when I actually need to put stuff on it or take stuff off.

So what of this from the Android info pdf that the app puts in your Dropbox:

Photo/Video Uploads
Launch your phone’s built-in camera while running Dropbox and your photos and videos will upload to your Dropbox instantly. When you use this feature together with Dropbox shared folders, these files are synced to your friends’ and family’s computers instantly!

Is this broken?

Worked fine for me. Click Settings > Upload in Dropbox, then choose Take Picture. Take it, and it'll auto-upload it.

Hmmm. Worked that time. :) But now when I delete the file from my computer's drop box it doesn't update the phone's drop box.

Still have some files (pictures) listed in the Dropbox app that I've deleted from my Dropbox on my laptop. I also removed them from the SD card but the app still shows them present, although I can't open them. Refreshing and rebooting the phone didn't help either.

Edit: Deleted and reinstalled the app and that fixed it.

Edit, Edit: Well, it's back to the original behavior - take a picture using the Dropbox menu and it doesn't upload. Oh well, maybe it's my phone but it's still pretty cool to have access to files I've added from my other machines. I doubt I'll ever really sync from the phone to Dropbox much anyway.

Like I said, I don't use the picture function so I can't help too much in that regards. Mainly, I use it to store a text file (groceries, list, etc) and my Keepass database on my Droid.

I do more with it on the PC (Work <--> Home) though.

OK, So I have DropBox and Keepass installed. I also have both installed on my laptop ( MBP ) .

How do I link my keepass on the android to the keepass db I have stored in my dropbox?

I don't seem to be able to see the file.

1) Install Keepass and Dropbox (on both PC and Droid)
2) Build your database on the PC, save it to your Dropbox folder
3) On your Droid, open up Dropbox and select the file and open it
4) It'll download it and open it in Keepass

That's how I do it.

OH! that works perfectly .. my problem was I had a 'key file' also .. and I was trying to open the db from Keepass, instead of doing an 'open file' from Dropbox.

now it all works! thanks

Worked for me http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6846126/2010-05-07-11-19-06.jpg
I just went to a folder in my drop box hit menu upload then take new pic. Took about 30 seconds for it to upload.

Edit:

Sorry i did not read through every post above, i see you got it working.

Now I finally have my password system fully synced. Here's what I did: Install Keepass and Dropbox on everything I use (Home PC, Work PC, and now Droid). Put your Keepass database IN Dropbox. It will sync it (and back it up) on their secure server. Now I always have my passwords with me, no matter where or what I'm on.

I am running keepassdroid and the dropbox android app on my HTC Hero

Is there a way to edit the keepass file on the phone and re-sync to dropbox? I am not sure this is possible unless you delete the keepass file from the web interface first, which is a big hassle of course.

Please advise if I have this wrong.

Professional is more secure (I think).

But if you want to run keepass on your android phone you will need to run classic. There is no android app for the professional version yet.
