Dropbox Desktop Security

I am thinking about getting a Dropbox account. I understand I have to install a desktop client which leads to my question. If my Dropbox account gets hacked, will they then be able to access my desktop through the desktop client? Same question for my phone if I use the app. Thanks!

You don't have to install Dropbox on your computer to use it. Only if you want to automate syncing files to it.

Theoretically, if your Dropbox account is hacked any devices that access the files could have those files mucked around. Your desktop itself will NOT be accessible.

This is true for any cloud storage service, not just Dropbox. In practice Dropbox is very secure. Just use a good password.
