Dropbox thread?

Is there one besides referrals?

I've read the wiki, the FAQ from Dropbox itself, and nothing addressed a couple of questions.

I understand your main folder is private. Can you put anything in there?
I download Creative Commons books and forget to grab the card for the tablet. I also have some pictures I'd like available on any device. I don't really want a photo gallery - I use Flickr. I have to download pics from the camera on either the laptop or desktop. I use either a zoom or a DSLR. And I forget to use a USB stick or card.

I also couldn't find any specs. I have a Windows XP laptop, a Ubuntu 11.04 desktop, and an android tablet and phone. Does it work with Linux?

Can you delete all files? Says nothing about deleting. Say I upload books from a certain date - get them on the device I want. Can I delete those files from Dropbox? I have them backed up on a computer and USB anyway, so I don't need more backup.

What's the best way to get it? From a link from Titanium Backup or from here?
Thanks

It works for Linux.

You can delete files. Even multi-select. The method depends on how you connect to it. I recommend ES File Explorer, personally. The official dropbox app for Android sucks. To connect with ES File explorer, slide to the left and add a new server.

The links are better, because you both get an extra 250 MB. My link is http://db.tt/njhxv9z1

I think everything is private unless you mark a folder for sharing. Then everything inside it is shared. But you can have 500 folders and only share 1, and only that one is shared.

Ok so basically, when you install your dropbox to your PC, you will get a Dropbox folder there. Whatever happens to the files in there, happens across all devices. basically, delete a file there, it gets deleted in all devices and from the cloud server. Put one in, it appears in all devices.

I like the new Dropbox app for Android. What was better about the old one?

Anyone using Dropbox on their phone should also check out Dropsync. Adds a lot of functionality.

Yes - that's how I understand it.

I have it on my 2 home PCs, my work PC and my Android. With the Android DropBox app the files appear but don't actually download unless you want to open it. I find it brilliant for sideloading apps all I need to do is drag the apk to my dropbox folder on my pc.

Thanks - used your link. Got it on the Linux box. Now XP and tablet.
