Dropbox

Hi,

I've just bought the S3 today and i'm waiting for it to arrive. I see that there is a 50GB Dropbox account given with every S3. I want to use the Dropbox account but not with my phone. So does anyone know if i can activate the account with my phone (or how ever it's done) and then dis-attach the phone and continue to use the Dropbox account between two computers?

Alternatively, does anyone know if i can only sync my phone with Dropbox but not Dropbox with my phone? Ie. Phone -> Dropbox and NOT Phone <- Dropbox. So i could use the Dropbox account to upload photos and the like from my phone to the Dropbox account. Sync data between two computers along with a backup of my phone but nothing is downloaded to my Phone.

Thanks for any advice.

Im not sure what you have to do to activate the 50GB storage (remember only 2GB is free after two years i think) but yeah you can either disable the dropbox app on the phone or turn off auto sync with dropbox

I do realise that the 50GB being a time limited deal of two years. Within the two years, i know that the 50GB storage will definitely be useful between the two computers i have in mind. I can't imagine i would ever need 50GB.

Does anyone know what happens if the 50GB deal when activitated and the app is disabled/transferred to a different account? I have another account of about 8GB that i would like to use once the 50GB deal is activated.

In my case I had to complete 6 out o7 5 steps to get the 50GB.

And once I did, it only then up my storage by additional 48GB

Only receiving an additional 48GB sounds fair to me because then you receive a free 50GB account like advertised.

My last question on the matter, does the Dropbox app on your phone attempt to force you to use your Google account when registering?

No, it was asking me to Register or Log In, and I logged in with my existing, free dropbox, and it worked without problem.
