I don't know about you guys ,but i'm thinking that google made a run-for with the upgrade for our N1's ...or it's just a poor market-strategy ...verry poor

Consideing Micromod777 (and others in the community) have produced a very stable, functional and near perfect Gingerbread Rom, I do wonder what Google are playing at with the official release.

Can't be far off now, hopefully. Soon the NS will be a month old, that might be the time.

Then again, it might not.

it's been too long ...wth ??
what are these guys waiting for ?
hasn't the "all mighty Nesus S" enjoyed "the one and only" status long enough ?

YOU GOOGLE !!!

Give em a break guys, google is a business and if they released it the same time or just after they would lose money as the stupid rich people out there wouldnt run out and buy the nexus 2......

On that note.... foooooking hurry up you wa**ers!

That's why samsung sucks ...and why should we care abut the NS's problems ? Give us the update ...isn't the N1 a Google product any more ???

Until I am proven wrong I will honestly believe Google will take good care of us. My guess at this point is that they found something wrong with it and are currently updating it. Screwing over your N1 users would only leave a bad taste in their mouth for when they want to upgrade to an NS or N2. I am will continue to stay positive, it's got to be around the corner.

They will do what they have to to keep developers happy. N1 is a development platform. No worries. It will come, as will updates after 2.3.

Google could at least be a little more transparent on the matter if they did have to stall it for a fix. Just say, "Hey, we found something, we're working on it." That's just basic customer service. I kind of get the feeling they need to hire a few non-engineers there.

You got that right !!!

My thoughts exactly! I think a good chunk of developers out there are using the Nexus One to use as the main device to develop their apps. Developers are not rich, so most may not be able to simply buy the Nexus S. I would think Google would make sure these developers are taken care of. They are the 'heart' of Android as without the apps, Android will only be half of what it is today.

Well said, it surely cant be that long in coming. As long as devs use N1 its in Googles interests to maintain it irrespective of us bods !

Why immediately blame Samsung for this problem?

It's more than feasible that this is a software fault that is delaying roll out to the N1.

If another phone is released with Gingerbread before the N1 gets it OTA what advantage, other than Vanilla Android, is there for having the N1 then? It was supposed to get updates before other phones but if a non-Nexus phone is released with the newer version before the update comes down then that goes out the window. Right?

I am assuming you are talking about the SE Arc? If they took as long as they did to release the X10...it'd be half a year before it's released and by then...we'll be talking about Honey ;)

I'm just saying in general but yeah, the Arc is the next scheduled one to be released with 2.3, supposedly in March. I think we'll be talking about Ice Cream Sandwiches by the middle of the year anyway... ;)

maybe even longer if i know SE ...they don't involve themself too much in that whole "update" process.

the only ones that i love for the software update program is Nokia and Google

That was what they said for the X10...to be released in 3 months (announced in end Oct/Nov 2009)...it wasn't released until April 2010 >_>;;

Could this be the reason for the delay
Google admits to Nexus S call reboot bug

This is exactly what I think is happening. Until they can determine what is causing the Nexus S to reboot all over the place and fix it (or prove it isn't the Android OS's fault), they aren't going to risk releasing it for anyone else. I expect N1 will get gingerbread 3 days after NS gets a fix (to give NS users first crack at the OTA update servers).

I mean, wouldn't you be a little upset if they pushed the update and your phone started rebooting mid-call? I know I would be.

If that's the case than the Nexus S users are basically Guinea pigs...
