Help drowned phone - partially recovered

Dropped the phone in loo yesterday! Turned off, dismantled, buried in rice, in airtight container in airing cupboard overnight.

Now it partially works. Apart from back/menu keys. And there is no service. Why would that be?

Should I dry it out some more? Wait and hope? Is there something else I can do?

Personally I'd have left it 24-48 hours before switching it on, by not doing so you may have fried some internal components. Best bet is get it back in the rice for another day and go from there.

I agree with bynoUK. Also you don't want it to be air tight that way moisture can escape the bag/container. But keep that in a dry non humid area

As said above you should have waited longer and the container should not be airtight. A fan would actually be a good idea also.. might as well still try but...

There is a good chance water is still inside the phone, any damage caused by you turning it on is likely to be permanent.

could be that you fried the hardware, good thing is that the buttons are cheap and easy to replace. The radio connectivity, however, might be a more 'spensive fix. Nice thing about sammy phones is that the guts of the vast majority of them is modular, making physical repair a breeze (as long as you have the right screwdrivers, steady hand, patience, and good vision)
