Help Dual sim card question

TC Woods

Lurker
If I buy a dual sim card phone, does/can one sim card handle the verizon pre-paid plan I have/use when I'm in the USA.

Could the other card be one that I use when I'm in Panama?

Many dual SIM phones don't have CDMA/EVDO modes, and the ones that are, are usually used with China Telecom CDMA. As Verizon is CDMA/EVDO in the US...not going to work AFAIK. Panama I don't know. http://willmyphonework.net/ is a useful site to check.

Pretty sure with Verizon you can only do BYOD, register and activate them with certain approved phones sold in the US. Which doesn't include any dual SIMs imported from Asia.

Verizon use SIM cards for LTE, but not for their 2G or 3G voice/data services. So yes, you definitely need a device with CDMA compatibility (which is not the same thing as WCDMA, which is GSM 3G/UMTS) and then you can only connect it by asking Verizon to register it.

For Panama it looks like you need the 850 and 1900 GSM and UMTS bands.
