DUH! Moment

I love my Maxx and have had none of the few issues I have read here. I did have one minor issue with mine that turned out to be a non-issue. I had been slightly not pleased with what I thought was the durability of the outer case on this phone. The back of the phone had acquired quite a few scuffs and scratches on the back. I was surprised to see this due to the tout of the Kevlar case and it's supposed durability. I hadn't dropped the phone, slid it across a rough surface or anything. Simply sliding it in and out of my shirt pocket.

Yesterday afternoon I found the reason. There is a packing/shipping protective cover over the back of the phone like they put over the screen. DUH! I had wondered if there was one when I got the phone as you can usually tell but mine was so perfectly placed on the back that I couldn't lift the edge of it with my fingernail so I assumed there was not one there. So yesterday it finally bubbled up a bit. I then peeled it off and just said to self, DUH, what a dummy.

Now I sort of wish I didn't order a case for the phone like an hour before I made this "discovery" Oh well, I am sure I will like the Otterbox Commuter case I have coming based on what others have said about the case on here. Thought I'd throw this post here just in case others were clueless like me and was questioning the durability factor of the outer case of this phone.

Thanks for admitting this, that takes nerves of steel to put this on a popular forum.

I am considering getting the Maxx now and will check it out this weekend.

LOL!

The back of my phone had a sticker with the MEID on the protective backing. How were you able to get the sticker off without removing the plastic?

While taking off the MEID sticker, I thought I had gouged the back with my fingernails. I always use a case so I was only slightly bummed.

HAHAHA I didn't realize all I did was scratch the plastic liner until I read this thread.

Thank you for posting this!

By the way, I had my microwave oven for years and years and could never get it quite clean. Then I discovered I had never removed the protective plastic liner on it.

Funny stuff. I did the same thing with a flat screen tv. Forgot to take off some of the plastic around the frame, then when it started to bubble i thought it was a quality issue. DOH!

Mine did to, dunno but I peeled it right off and the other didn't come off. I thought that WAS the protective sticker on back. Funny thing was the one left on there was crystal clear and visually I couldn't tell it was there till I scuffed it a few times and that bubble appeared. then I could tell what the heck was going on.

LOL, We did the same thing, there was a cover on the glass on the door. It did only take me a week or so to figure it out though.

This is too funny. On our Sony TV I took the plastic off the frame but along the bottom where it is silver instead of black there was still the film on it. It never did bubble. I just noticed it when I was dusting once. Also I used my Macbook for a couple days till I realized there was a film over the screen. All I can say is I wish I knew some of the folks that put these films on to get them to put the protective film covers/screen protectors you can buy. On my DINC I went through the whole pack of 3 before I got one one fairly "acceptable". Only once on my old iPhone was I able to drop one on perfect the first time.

Funny, I maybe touched my phone 20 seconds total before I hurried it to its otterbox defender case. My is still gonna be the plastic and all whenever I decide to take this case off. haha

I pulled the two stickers off the plastic. Didn't even realize it was plastic underneath. But then I've had a case on it since I walked out of the store (and even had those stickers on there for a couple days before pulling them off).

On the plus side, one of my complaints with the naked phone is there wasn't enough grip on the back for me to feel confident holding the phone. Now there is. May try it naked for awhile.

Got my Maxx the day it came out. Just took the sticker off the back. If I hadn't seen this post it would have stayed there forever.

From reading about the heat issue due to heavy usage, I'd be a little concerned that the plastic, being so thin, would melt to the back. Ick.

Maybe you'd be better off removing it?

I was getting annoyed at the unsightly back not realizing it's a plastic film. There's no tab to peel it off, so it just isn't very obvious. I was ready to start a thread complaining about it until I saw yours....Ha.

I'm gonna follow up your Duh moment with one of my own. How do I tell if the plastic is still on there? I took the plastic off with the barcodes or whatever. But not sure if what's on there now is plastic or not.
