Dumb question about activation of Unlocked/Moto Maker Phone...

OK, this is probably a dumb question, but, I'm going to ask it anyway.

It is my understanding that buying the Moto-X-Pure(in the USA), is through Moto Maker web site, and is unlocked and compatible for any carrier.

I'm with Verizon, so, do I take it to Verizon for activation, or do I need to go to Verizon to get a SIM card for it, but, still order it from Moto-Maker site, or what??

Obviously, up until now, I've only ever bought Verizon locked phones from Verizon.
Thanks in advance...

Hi Cyber! The only dumb question is the one not asked. We're all here to help. And I have good news for you:

If it's like the original Moto X (and it should be), just remove the included nanoSIM from it when the Moto X Pure arrives, insert YOUR nanoSIM from your old phone and rock on. You don't have to take it into Verizon at all. If your current SIM is a mini or microSIM, you may need a new, smaller one from Verizon but otherwise just stick your nanoSIM in the new phone and go. All your cellular data is on that.

Hope this helps! :)

I currently have the HTC One M8, it doesn't matter if you're changing phone manufacturer?? I don't know which SIM my M8 has?? I know, I know, Google it!!! :-)

It makes no difference to the SIM card what phone it's in, as long as it's the right size. There are even cutters available that let you trim mini and microSIMs down to nano size, since the chip is the same on all of them. The SIM's only function is to tell the cell tower who you are and that you're activated on the network... which you are. And you're in luck, because the HTC One M8 uses a nanoSIM. You're halfway there already: all you need now is the phone!

:D

I put an unused nano on my SIM, aligning the pads.
I outlined the nano on the old SIM with a fine point pen, and trimmed with a scissors.

This seems like a nice phone, but Sprint?? might have trouble. Current phone has micro sim. *hand to head* don't know...

This phone is designed to work on all major US carriers. I suppose Sprint is still one of them :p

You will either need to cut your microSIM to size or exchange it for a nanoSIM, Almath. No problem either way.

AWESOME!!!! I've been seeing Sept 3rd as release date for the Moto-X-Pure. I was also considering the Note-5, but, it costs almost twice as much. I like the Moto-X having dual Front speakers, compared to the Note-5 on the bottom speakers. Most the rest seems fairly similar.

So, I get my new Moto-X-Pure and move the SIM over. Does that tell Verizon that my HTC-One-M8 is now a Moto-X-Pure?? Are they going to charge me an activation fee?? Will the new phone automatically be reflected on myVerizon.com??

You activate the line, not the phone. The line information is on the SIM, and is already activated. It's truly plug and play. Just watch for that sneaky Assurion being tacked onto your plan, and you'll be fine :)

Yes. Yes. No. Yes. :)

It really is just a matter of popping your SIM into the new phone and going about your merry way. I just did that for my sister the other day. It shows up on Verizon's site almost immediately. When you turn the X on it will take a few seconds to find service etc. and you'll see a message about your service being active (I don't recall exactly what it says, but it confirms your phone number).

Sign in and have at it. It could not be any easier or trouble free!
