Dumping the iPad 4 for the 10.1

Will I be sorry?
Wife says I have to sell my iPad 4 before purchasing the 10.1
She is purchasing the white one and I want the gray 32GB.
I would like to dump her. :D

I think she is right. Why would you need both? I say you will not be sorry. Alternatively, wait for her to get hers, pleay with it and then decide whether you want one or not.

Both my wife and I bought tablets over the past weekend. I purchased a Note 10 and the better half bought an iPad4.

Right away I saw the far superior screen of the iPad4: the obvious is that more fits on the screen (web pages, photos, etc.). The detail of text looks so crisp and easy on the eyes with no jagged edges. The colors on the iPad are more accurate and pleasing even against the Standard, Vivid (yuck) and Cinema options of the Note.

For browsing I tested the stock browser and Chrome against Safari. Clearing the cache and rebooting both units I tested pages and Safari beat the Note 10 every time for loading the sites. Not by a huge margin but at least 2-5 sec gap.

Without jail breaking the iPad doesn't have widgets, custom launchers or re-sizable windows. Also missing is a stylus (you can always buy one though) and a SD card slot. Too me this is not a big deal, you end up opening the widget to view the entire app anyway; the widget is a preview most of the time. As for the extra space, I stream all my data from a 3TB network drive and only keep the files I really need on the device itself; space is not an issue. The simplicity of iOS is actually appealing to me; its fast, stable and secure.

I took my Note 10 back and there are now 2 iPad4 devices in the house.

Out of curiosity did you even give the 10.1 a chance? The way I read your post it doesn't seem as if you did.

I gave it 5 days, it was enough. Im very familiar with Android and Samsung to see if the Note fit the bill.

On the hardware front there is no comparison, especially the display. Put them side by side with a high res photo with native resolution and also the other's resolution and youll have a hard time looking at 1280*800 on a 10" screen again.

Two complete different machines, both fit peoples needs. Also there is a difference in pricing. Myself I like them both so it's not a problem having both.

Actually, in Canada the Note 10 32GB is currently on sale at $450 from $500. The iPad 4 16GB is also $500.

I still like Android but iOS and the hardware behind it are winning me over. As for JailBreaking, not interested in it as it just makes the device unstable and less secure.

I came from the iOS world(4 years) to Android (IPhone4, iPad).....

iPad is faster, way more apps (and more polished/profession apps) than my Note/Android. You will not be sorry if all you do is surf the web and email. If you do serious music creation or use specific apps, you will be sorry in time. There are simply no Android apps to replace many of the apps available on iOS.

I am staying with Android, but I sure do miss the bigger world of iOS.....
