Confirmed that it is coming to Android! Dungeon defenders is a 3D DoTA/Tower defense hybrid built using the Unreal Engine. It looks BADASS! here's the link to Droid Gamers with a trailer:

If that video is indicative of the quality we'll see on Android, day one buy. I can't wait. I'm curious though about how it will work with phones that have no keyboard, like my Incredible for example.

moving forward to bring complex games on the handheld platform is appreciated, but i think future is in the stream gaming, like OnLive and such. Since it obviously benefits games more - game graphics are better, lower processing power is needed, server-side rendering makes battery last longer.
Since most games of that caliber will be aiming at becoming multiplayer online games - connectivity problems solve themselves, the only problem is price I guess, but with volume it will be cheaper and cheaper.

Those are the pics for the xbla version the iphone one doesn't look that good I've been waiting for the game for a while...good news for android gaming.

the one on the iPhone on the video is only an alpha, so it can get better once it's finally released. But I hope there's a video of the gameplay on the android though.

Game looks awesome.....but

Looks like we need to clarify on this game.

Yes, the developer said it was powered by U3 engine, but no clue on a release date nor the minimum specs required to run this game.

I will not be too thrilled until I hear from the developer/publisher about a release date and some more solid information. I will be anxious to see the official notes on this game.

Good post though. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I went to their forums and since i'm sporting a Nexus One, asked if it will run on my device:

slighmd---will the Android version run on the HTC Evo and Nexus one? how about the original Droid?

JeremyStieglitz---Currently the Android version only runs on next-gen Android devices using the Tegra2 GPU (they are not even on the market yet, but are expected this holiday season). However, before we ship we may make a version that supports current-gen Android devices including the HTC & Nexus.

Here is a link to that query:
Ask a question, Get an answer. Maybe.

so the Android version is being developed on a device that's not even out or confirmed/announced yet? and assuming that the Tegra2 phones will be out, we have to buy a new phone just to play this? i do hope that a version for the Nexus One and current gen phones will be made and released on that mid-december release day.

Yeah requiring a Tegra 2 cpu will cost them a very large portion of their potential sales. I may want to play this game, but nearly bad enough to upgrade my 3 month old Incredible(by the release day). Besides, there are plenty of other good looking games I will happily play instead of this.

yep, same with me if they don't release a non-tegra version. Besides, pocket legends mmorpg is also coming out that time :D

To make a game like this run on a snapdragon will require killing the graphics to the point of making this engine completely unnecessary.

The GPU on Galaxy S devices is over 4x faster than the snapdragon GPU... so if it doesn't run on Galaxy S phones, you should probably kiss the nexus one, incredible, and evo goodbye.

I'm rather shocked that it will require a tegra 2. I wonder if that's due to processing power or a funky driver thing...
