Help Duplicate contacts are driving me insane

fenge

Newbie
Hi. Apart from being unable to work out how to actually post a question on the forum, I would like to know if anyone is able to explain how to disable the 'joined contacts ' option on my Galaxy S and how to stop my contacts being duplicated in my SMS app. When I go to make a call and choose a contact there is only one of each contact listed, but when I go to send an SMS each contact is listed twice. Oh, and I love the site but as a first time user of an internet forum it took me ages to work out how to post questions and how to view replies. Think I got there in the end though.

I haven't had any SMS problems. Running HK version android 2.2.1.
Joining I do have a minor bug with 2 people having the same name and it keeps wanting to join them.

Do you manage your contacts online off your web browser? Making sure you don't actually have duplicate accounts for users? (because your phone can be set to list users with only phone numbers and it might hide other ones, depending on tags and display settings, etc)

Sorry, not much help here!

Oh, I just wanted to state this is a 'bug' because on the phonebook it shows th that there are 2 joined, but when i get into the actual entry it doesn't show them joined (only one 'g' with nothing else), that can't be un-joined for whatever reason. I basically can't contact the other person. The weird thing is, the spelling is different one is an 'Ally Chan' and the other is an 'Allie Chan' so it doesn't make any sense to me.
