Help Duplicate image folders in gallery - how to tidy?

I noticed that I now have duplicate folders in my gallery now, that have both duplicate and unique images. I think I made them by using media player to upload said folders.
If I save an image on my phone, the folder browser only sees one.
I also noticed when I deleted an image from one folder, it vanished from both. (great, thanks, I wanted that image)

Is it possible to correct this to one folder of a particular name, and hopefully cure the duplicate images too?

Well, I solved it myself mostly.
Windows 7 can actually see the nexus as a mass storage device so I pulled off all the folders, deleted them all and put new ones on instead.
Any residual ones left I deleted on the phone.
