Help duplicate or triple text messages

i sometimes get double or triple text messages with the stock messenger. is there a reason or a solution for this?

I get this sometimes too. And I don't have unlimited texting, so that sucks. Hasn't really happened this month, but happened a ton last month. Don't know why it happens, hope someone else does.

When I looked into this for a friend on a different phone, the conclusion was that it was a Verizon issue, not a phone issue.
