DVD on Laptop LOUD

BabyBlues

Trouble Just Finds Me!
Anyone have any ideas as to why, all of a sudden, any disc in my laptop sounds like a small plane is starting up and going to come flying out? TIA.

Really?? Ok - I don't remember it doing it before but maybe it has and I just didn't pay attention to it.

You should bring your DVD into your local mechanic to get it balanced.

It works with wheels, so why not DVD's. :D

How old is the DVD player? If it's making sounds that you haven't heard before then maybe there's a physical part that's about to fail. Internal DVD drives are relatively cheap and if you have a decent setup (video card, processor, RAM, etc) then you could probably get a decent bluray player if you watch movies on your computer. I see SATA drives are going for about $15-$17 right now.

Maybe 3 years old. I tried another movie tonight and it didn't make the noise. Kinda figured since I asked for advice the computer would decide to be nice. I'll keep checking to see if its doing it.
Thanks so much!!

It can sometimes be louder if its going into overdrive.

This can be dependent on the condition of the disk or the type of content on the disk

Could is be a system fan? perhaps it is kicking into overdrive while[/] playing a dvd due to system running a little hotter during playback?

Could be. There is no rhyme or reason. Some DVDs do it. Others are quiet. I can't figure it out anymore

I remember my old pcs used to do it when i used to write / read at very high speeds !

I think its absolutely normal !

It sounds like that when the CD/DVD is rotating in high speed

It also used to vibrate like anything !
