Help E: failed to Mount /efs

Hi

My S3 has stopped moving past the Samsung logo when booting.
I enetered recovery mode and noticed the E: failed to Mount /efs message.
I tried to reset to factory defaults but still encounter E: failed to Mount /efs

After doing some googling, I tried to restore using Kies, then ODIN, but my PC does not see the phone anymore.

I am now trying to install Android from the SD card, but I am not sure how to go about that

Any advise will be appreciated.

Are you able to get to download mode? You need to be to use odin.

I am able to get download mode, but I am my PC does not pick up my phone any longer, is there a way I can copy the install files to the sd card and install it from there?'
