e-mail notification

Hi. I have turned off e mail notification on my S3. Before this I set the notification to silent. Despite this the phone still gives a ring when an e mail arrives. Very annoying. Does anybody know how to stop this please?

In which email app?

Did you turn it off for general settings or account settings?

if ure using gmail there is a setting in the gmail app for sound.

Quick fix! Only turned it off in general. Now done it in account settings to and its sorted. Thanks

I have the opposite problem with my S3. Every since the latest update i don't get notifications anymore when i get a email. I have to go into my email account (all 5 of them) and click refresh to see if i have a email for that account.

I would love to figure out how to fix this issue. I use the phones stock email to setup all my accounts just like i've done on all my previous android phones without any issue (not the gmail app).

any ideas how to fix this issue would be welcomed. I've checked the settings, and even tested the out-going and in-coming setttings and even deleted and re-installed some of them with no luck sofar.
