E-mail shows (-1)

As a relatively new user of the Note 2, I have recently seen that whenever I 'empty' by e-mail box, the e-mail icon shows (-1). Even when there are, say, 4 e-mails in the list, the number on the icon is 1 less, 3.

This didn't happen when I first got the phone. Is there a setting that I have inadvertently disturbed?

Welcome Jay to the site, I have not seen that issue before, so I will direct you to post in your device forum and I am sure someone will help and chime in, cheers, see below
