Hi
New member here, let me know if I'm in the wrong place.
So I bought a HTC Desire about 10 months ago, and from the start have had a problem with updating.
When I try to update through settings->about phone->system software updates, I download the update, then when it tries to install I get something like:
a lot of text
E:Error in /sdcard/download/OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5-2.29.405.2_releasedauh16jhok5cmdm6.zip
(Status 7)
installation aborted
And then if I choose "apply sdcard:update.zip" I get
install from sdcard...
finding update package...
opening update package...
verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted
I have not done anything to the phone since I bought it, have not attempted to root it or anything. I couldn't be bothered dealing with it so I turned off auto-update and kind of left it until now.
My questions are, why is it doing this and what can I do? Will I be able to get around it if I root the phone (I'll then have to figure out what to do since I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'd prefer another solution). I've already factory reset it a couple of times.
Thanks
