Representative:We don't offer early upgrade but currently we are running upgrade now offer at Sprint owned stores and a very few selected phone numbers and accounts are eligible for that. As per that ***-***-**** is eligible to upgrade early by paying a fee of $225 + the cost of a new phone AND participating in the buyback program. Customer gets 2 yr pricing with offer. Find nearest co owned store at www.sprint.com/storelocator.

My situation remember when sprint had that early upgrade well thats when I got the S3 I payed i think $36 or $55 dont remember plus the phone cost and I had like 6 months left to upgrade I just couldnt wait...

So that was last year June 8 2012 when I got my S3
I want to early upgrade for a Note (when it comes out)
My next upgrade is February 1, 2014
So I wanted to early upgrade but is costing me $225 when I have less months than last year

ETF stands for early termination fee, and you pay that when you decide to leave your providers contract before it is fulfilled (usually 2 years).
If you are paying $225.00 and then you still need to pay the purchase price of the new phone, and in addition to that you still must turn in your phone to the "buyback program" it would seem that you are not really getting a very good deal, since you are first, essentially, being made to pay off your contract before you can get the 2 year pricing deal, and even then you will not really own your phone since you are required to turn it in when you leave them or decide to upgrade.
I may have this wrong, but that is how I read it.

From the way you put it, she could sell her current phone, take the $225, and use the money from the purchase of a new phone, $200, and just buy a new phone out right. When you add all that up, she should have at least $600. But if she goes the other way, she is still paying $600 plus, and tied to a new contract.

I say wait, or pay full price for your next phone. Just my opinion.

Upgrade Now, which is based on account worthiness and months remaining, can only be done at a corporate Sprint store as you were told. The pay rates were once as listed below:
- Customers that have upgraded devices between 9-11 months ago would have an early upgrade fee of $165.
- Customers that have upgraded between 12-14 months ago will have an early upgrade fee of $125.
- Customers that have upgraded between 15-17 months ago will have an early upgrade fee of $95.
- Customers that have upgraded between 18-21 months ago will have an early upgrade fee of $55.

These are from 2012, and the page that once held this list has since been changed or removed. The 2013 pricing was different, but still did not ask for anything near $225. When I was at 6 months (June-Dec), my Upgrade Now pricing was $100 which would be charged to my bill if I had the $249 for the S4 up front. I ended up waiting until my official date, but the point is unless there's been a severe change, it's out there. I'd bounce around through different operators or visit a corporate store to see if you can get a better answer.

This thread basically shows how sprint sucks

None of the "early upgrade" programs out right now are much different. Sprint has had this program and another for over a year and the fee varies based on how long you have left before your upgrade, not your end of contract. They just don't advertise it.

(speaking to att, tmobile and the rumored soon to be released verizon programs in comparison)

Sprints "early upgrade" is frankly the best out there

I used it last year to upgrade an entire year early for about $100 to buy out of my contract

No extra monthly fees. No payment plans on the new cell phone, and you don't have to trade in your old cellphone when you do it.

The new jump, edge, ect plans
...not so much.
T-mobiles is OK, ATT's and Verizon's are pretty much ripoffs

if you are on sprint contract...
and wanted to buy a new phone at full retail.. $600

there are NO extra fees... there might be an activation fee ($36)

you just need to activate it on your current plan! the plan does NOT start over for another 2 yrs.
