Hello and welcome aboard. Thanks for joining the ranks!

I've moved your thread to the Verizon forum for some faster responses. :)

All you can do is ask. If the manager approves the upgrade, you win. You don't say what phone your daughter has now, but I would imagine you'll have a better shot at an approval if shes upgrading from a feature phone or maybe a 3G phone to the 4G LTE Maxx.

If the manager doesn't approve, you haven't lost anything, you're still where you started.

Best of luck,

Is it part of a family plan contract or does she have her own contract? Verizon has an early upgrade policy. You just have to find out what date you're eligible for it. When that date comes, you should be able to upgrade early by just paying a 20 dollar fee.

Now you two have a family plan with you as the primary and her as the secondary, that's a different beast. You can upgrade your phone early, but she can't upgrade hers til Dec. I'm not sure what the manager told you, but I'm in a similar circumstance and everywhere I've gone, there has been a unanimous answer that I won't be able to get the second phone for the subsidized price until the stated upgrade date. In this case, if you haven't upgraded your phone yet, you might want to wait until the next wave of phones comes out. The RAZR HD is supposed to come out soon. When the RAZR MAXX came out, all the phones in the RAZR line were Buy 1 Get 1 Free. If they do that again, then you both can get new phones without having to worry about the upgrade date for hers.

Unless I am mistaken, the buy 1 get 1 free only applies if you are getting a new activation on that free phone.

Verizon ended the early upgrades last year. Also you both need available upgrades in order to do a buy one get one.

I did an early upgrade in April. However, 6 months may be too much for an early upgrade.

I guess I should have specified, they ended the structured early upgrades last year, you can still get management overrides though. (or if you still had one left under the old terms, however that would be the last one)

If it's an individual plan, have her login to her My Verizon site. It will tell you 2 things. A, if she is eligible to upgrade, and B, if she is eligible of a discounted upgrade. More than likely she is eligible for an upgrade now (at least 12 months into current contract). This is assuming when you say contract is up in December that you are talking the full 24 months. I think the upgrade policy was changed sometime in early 2011.

You sure about this? I've spoken to more than one person at more than one Verizon, and all have told me that I could upgrade early and one told me that I could do the Buy 1, Get 1 Free if it came up again. As a matter of fact, it was a store rep that gave me the idea in the first place. I just didn't do it because the Spectrum was the phone that had that deal at the time, and I didn't want it.
