earphone issues

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with my earphone issue.
I have a samsung galaxy s2 and recently upgraded the software from gingerbread to ice cream sandwich. before I did this my earphone remote would allow me to skip the songs on my music player (which I loved) however since the update my earphone remote no longer allows me to do this and instead the remote function will only allow me to change the volume, does anyone know how I can change it back to the skip function?
