Help Earphones block mic

Stavros07

Lurker
So,i just bought the ulefone u007 and it seems like whenever i connect my earphones the mic is muted on all phone calls and app, everything, anyone have an idea whats the matter? Thanks in advance.

Do these headphones have a mic? If for any reason it thinks they do when they don't that would be the result.

However, that requires either a faulty socket, a strange sort of short, a very strange software corruption or both pairs of headphones being broken in the same way. I think we can exclude the last. Did this just start, or was the phone always like this? If it just started, did anything happen before then that might be relevant (dropped, system update, has it ever got wet?)? And just to be sure, if you shine a torch into the socket can you see anything in there? If so be very careful trying to remove it, as you could easily do damage in the process.

While the ulefone u007 looks like a nice device, the prices I'm seeing are pretty low and indicates the mfg. probably cut a whole bunch of corners to keep costs down. I would think @Hadron is correct, that the phone thinks the headphones contain a mic and are muting the phones internal microphone. It's either a design flaw or a product defect.

They dont have a mic,i guess this is it,and i just got it so its not like it happened out if the blue, the first time i tried it,it was like that.

Do you have it in a case? A lot of times a case will interfere with inserting the plug completely in the jack, which will cause problems exactly like this.

It is not a defect or design flaw, it is a feature (albeit a bad one) It assumes if you are plugging something into the jack that it has a mic built in, it is not actually checking for a mic being present. -Probably a cost-cutting measure. Purchase some headphones with a mic and the problem should be resolved.
