Help Earpiece problem while making calls

I got my phone on contract 5 days back and I am having issues with making/recieving calls with the phone. The phone earpiece 4 out of 5 times will not work while making or recieving calls. I cannot hear anything but the caller/recipient can hear fine. The phone works fine in speaker mode or with a bluetooth headset. The problem is with the earpiece.

Restarting the phone solves the problem for the first call i make/recieve but the problem soon comes back in subsequent calls. Does anyone else have the same problem? Do i need to get a replacement or is it a software problem?

Taking a wild guess I'd assume software, the best thing for you to do is contact your network as they can perform a diagnostics test to help find out what the problem is or may be.

This problem sounds suspiciously similar to the Samsung Nexus S that Sprint released back in May. Maybe it's a systemic problem in the Samsung firmware?
