eastcom m3 help!

Lurker
Hi I recently bought an "eastcom m3" which is actually pretty decent. More so than expected! It only has one major problem. It has mui UI on and I can't install Google play no matter what I try it just force closes.

I have previously managed to root and flash my nexus 7 2012. But that was a much more mainstream device and there were plenty of tutorials and tools around.

Anyone know of a rooting tool likely to get me started here? I suppose a stock android rom isn't going to exist for it. But I may be able to work around it if I can at least gain su access.
A lot of the phone was in Chinese but I've managed to disable most of it. or hide the apps using smartlauncher. And the phone is very usable. But I can't get many apps and am stuck using appgenie etc

Rooting the phone isn't going to get Play working, since Play never requests root. Get used to downloading apk files and installing them. (If you run an app like App Backup and Install, any apk in its folder is considered backed up and you can restore it using the app.)

Don't be surprised if a lot more apps that you install also force closed.

As far as rooting, you first need a driver to connect the phone to your computer. Koush Universal Driver may work. Otherwise you'll have to try anything you can find until you find one that works.

For rooting, try Kingo as long as the Android version is 4.3 or lower. Or try ADB manually root almost any Android device

As always, no guarantees if you brick your phone.

Thanks for the suggestion. I know rooting won't just make play work. I was hoping that with super user access I'd have a chance to find and remove whatever is causing the problem.
There is the Chinese version of the market on the phone and that works perfectly. Maybe if I can uninstall that then I'll be able to install the version I want?
And to be fair to the phone the only apps that force close are the ones that need Google services to download large files.
I'll look at the tools you suggested shortly. Thanks again.

I am not as technical as you but if you find a answer would you let me know. I would love to add apps. Did not know this would be a problem when I bought it. I thought if they sold worlwide it would be easy to get apps. As you said getting apps from the chinese market is not a problem . But you get them in Chinese. Even when I get to the Google play , when I click on the app it takes me to the chinese app store. Otherwise the phone is great.

Lol! This one has me beat. The device just isn't popular enough for there to be much interest in it.
For the price its actually a pretty good phone. The only solution I've found is to use alternative app stores.
Aptoide and moboGenie will work but you're going to want malwarebytes or something similar installed as installing from there is a bit of a lottery.
The safest bet is to use amazon app Store. Which has most of the popular stuff. Your still not going to be able to get things with big additional downloads though as that still doesn't work without play services.
So dead trigger 2 and fifa 14 aren't going to happen. But everyday stuff like messenger apps ,email, Skype etc will all work fine. And any game without a huge additional file.
You do have to register a payment method with amazon though.
So if that's not an option the opera appstore also has a lot of the free apps. Just use your browser to find the apks for Amazon /opera stores from their websites.
This is the work around I'm using until something else turns up. Hope it helps
