easy google earth question

i want to go with my phone to an area with no cell coverage. does the google earth app require data to work??

Yes it does. If you are looking for a GPS app that does not require data, you might look at CoPilot North America.

i just looked at copilot. the problem is i dont need directions. we are 4 wheeling and snowmobiling in the forest and there are tons of trails marked on google earth. is there anyway to install the full version right on the phone like the computer version? or is the computer version using the net too, i am not sure

As far as I know, all Google map services require a data connection, including Google Earth on the PC/Mac. Google maps on Android will cache maps for saved routes, but they have to be done with a data connection and once that connection is lost, any deviation will give you an error or a blank screen.
