easy question re sound options on phone.

My friends phone is running a pre ICS system. They want to be able to have a ring tone, but they want just vibrate on text messages. in other words silent on text but vibrate on text and call, with a ring tone as well.

Could someone guide me exactly where to set the options as it seems confusing.
