Help EasyTether and ICS?

Minor correction: EasyTether Pro - in short, I paid for it.

Breynolds007, are using EasyTether or FoxFi?

Hi, I have easytether pro and it used to work flawlessly. However, after the ics update, it doesn't work. I connect my phone and it recognized my drives. However, Easytether on my computer doesn't appear to find my phone to connect. Can you please explain how to make this works.

I have a Droid Razr on Verizon and like the above user, I cannot get Easytether to see my phone either. I opened "Settings -> Tethering & Mobile Hotspot" and checked the box tethering and my phone immediately connected. It is not using Easytether. I am not sure if I just paid a fee... but I didn't approve any added fee (like would have happened had I checked Mobile Hotspot). At the moment... I am thinking Tethering comes with ICS on Verizon and the only fee is for Data usage.

Um, I never assume that things default to "no cost" when it comes to phone features and VZW. VZW is, after all, a for-profit entity and the share holders want their money - that's just the way of the world. :)

FWIW, here's what the EasyTether FAQ has to say about ICS:
Is EasyTether compatible with Froyo (Android 2.2), Gingerbread (Android 2.3), Honeycomb (Android 3.x) or Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.x)

Absolutely yes, EasyTether is fully compatible with these Android versions.
And that's the name of that tune! :D

There is no need to use easy tether or any other wired tether app. Verizon only charges for wireless tethering. USB tethering is available without rooting and without charge from verizon.

To get it to work you must first tether your phone to a computer and then select usb tethering from the settings menu. It takes a minute or so to conect and then your good to go.

I'm coming at this problem from being a Droid Incredible 2 (DINC2) owner, where EasyTether Pro is effectively a must, short of shelling out $30/mo for a link between the DINC2 and a laptop or PC.

Since I already own EasyTether Pro, I'll stick with it (if ain't broke, don't fix it), but if it doesn't fly, I'll follow up on your plan B. :)

does this work on a mac?

Problems? Please explain ....... I had none.

I dunno why, but when I've tried to hookup via Foxfi, sometimes I cannot connect, so I stopped using it. ET Pro works every time and I always have a cable with me so I use it.
To the poster having issues, have you tried re-downloading the app on your phone, and software on computer? And you are using the paid, pro version? It's always been very reliable and easy to connect for me.

Can you explain this. I can't find a setting for usb tether. Also, when connected to usb, do you keep the mode on "mass storage" or something else.

+1

FWIW, I already have Easytether, for the last phone, and it checks out with the Maxx, too, but if the Maxx does this job without an app, so much the better.
