Eating the right stuff

We get constantly bombarded with advice about what we should be eating to keep us healthy. Some like to "eat clean" where they forgo any processed foods (whatever that means). And of course there are plant based diets, vegan, all kinds of other diets, which invariably seem to revolve around not eating anything which tastes good.

Basically humans used to run after animals with spears, kill them, and eat their flesh. I could be wrong, but I don't think we've evolved significantly beyond being physically adapted to do that. Those activities involve two main things - running fast, and eating meat. Throw in a some vegetables for times when no animals could be killed, and everyone's happy.

Another thing is, we can't see what's happening inside our bodies on a day to day basis (if ever), so nobody can say for sure what foodstuffs are doing us good, or contributing to killing us. Therefore my philosophy is to just eat the food I like, and try and get some exercise. And that last bit is debatable as things in the body start to wear out faster, with more demanding use.

The fact that no experts can agree, or have come up with a conclusive recipe for healthy longevity leads me to believe that we should all just do what the hell makes us happy. ;)

It's Sunday. I'm roasting a chicken, are you?

I think any excess is bad and that includes too much meat, or, not enough. Eat a little of this and a little of that, binge eat and fast every now and then and don't worry about it.

Here's the definitive rule for health: Eat what you like, but don't over do it. Get a good bit of exercise, but don't overdo it. And, most importantly, choose your parents well. :D

:D All sounds good to me. And ultimately, we can't change the genetic hand we've been dealt.
Yeah of course, enjoyed my Sunday roast.

I think it's far more important to be active than what a person consumes. I've never dieted and eat whatever I want. I only eat one meal a day and stay real active. Weight is no concern. Man wasn't designed to sit around all day at work and sit around all night relaxing. If a person's work is not demanding then some activity should be added... chasing wild animals perhaps. :)

Certainly if a job isn't physically demanding, then this makes it vitally important to get out and make time for exercise.

It depends on what you are in the mood for though, even the lower points and getting out with walking follows all the way down though. In a greater point, depending on how active you can get.
