Help Ebay Purchase - Need to change my location

I recently purchased an HTC Desire HD from Ebay, and when I turned it on, I noticed that all of the languages I can choose from were from Asia:

Tieng Viet
English (Singapore)
English (Thailand)

etc....

I am from the North America, I split time between Canada and the States. Is there a way for me to set the phone to have languages such as English from the US, French & Spanish?

Thanks,
davis

i think its a function of the firmware version you have on there, and from the sounds of it you might have the asian version of the handset. besides rooting and reflashing your device with the north american firmware, i dont see any other option really...

that's what i was fearing. Do you know if there's a way to root and reflash on a mac? or am i going to have to find a pc? i've been doing a lot of searching and can't seem to find anything.

thanks for responding.

no idea mate, not sure about mac. try the xda-developers forum...

if the language is your main problem, just install "morelocale 2" from the market and set any language you want..

mine DHD is from same area (southeast asia), and i just set portuguese and it worked just fine...

hope it can help you!
