Root Eclipse vs Broken Out?

I don't know if you guys are checking the eclipse forums at all but nitro is building a new rom based off v6 and though he hasn't said when he would release it he did say he's about where he was with the v5 build; so I expect it to be ready soon.

Cool yeah I am on eclipse right now and running the popcorn kernel. Couldn't get the blitz kernel to be happy inside the zip..could have been the windows computer I was trying to make it work on but it would not install.

Seems pretty good.

Been running it aggressive with CFQ sched and I think it likes the battery. I cleared out the battery cache when prepping to install so I am reteaching it but I may have to dial it down for batt life

i have same issues trying to Blitz w/ eclipse. Popcorn 2.0 you can undervolt, but doesnt come pre undervolted like Blitz. Doing some work there should yeild you better battery life.

I don't get why you guys are having issues. Just drag and drop the boot.img from the broken out 3.0 zip into the eclipse zip. Dont unzip either file. Leave them as is and drag and drop.

it wont let me unless i unzip the folder.. drag and drop or copy/ cut & paste

That's really weird, i drag and drop files directly into and out of zipped folders all the time when modding the Sims 3 (i like my digital people to have horribly disturbing lives that EA disapproves of).

So here's .2 overclocked to 1.8 with the galmaufry governor.

I usually get 7300 with broken out 3.

Yep tried that. I use Linux, so I was using the regular archive tool there and it was telling me...I think...that the eclipse zip was corrupt. I at one point extracted the zip and then re-zipped and it wouldn't install....weirdness...back on BO 3 now. Think I will stay here for a bit....still watching to see which one is panning out right now...looks like people like the stability of BO....I am liking that it is all functioning as intended....plus Nitro is working on the v6 eclipse once that is good I may go back. If we had multiple roms to play with, I'd be screwed because unless people scream "it will brick your phone!!" I would be all about trying it out

LOL

Honestly I can safely say Broken Out is way better compared to Eclipse. Maybe, maybe Eclipse is themed better as I do like the blue color underneath the numbers on the dialpad, and the status bar displaying the blue icons. But when it comes down to it, everything is fully functional on Broken Out. What all has really changed from Eclipse .01 to .02? Including the popcorn kernel, which wasn't even made by Nitro. No disrespect intended here, but Broken Out is substantially better as MT has made a custom kernel and has everything full functional.

For those wanting to run Blitz on Eclipse, I have added a download link for the kernel in the Broken Out op. Those that had wifi problems from just dragging and dropping the boot.img, it is because you have to transfer the modules also. To make it easier though, I put the zip together. I have been meaning to do it for a while now, just keep forgetting lol.

you're a prince :) Did you manage to get a new phone/unbrick your dead one??

Awesome man!!!!!!!!

Is there a way to get the eclipse themed Swype on BO?

I just tried eclipse for the first time and noticed a big difference in call quality, made me wonder how many of those complaining about problems with call clarity are running Eclipse...

So, been on eclipse now for about 36 hours, using blitz kernel. No random reboots (after the first one, not 5 minutes after flashing, no titanium backup restores yet).

Clean apk installed all apps, most data restores fail and a good 10 apps force close on launch unless i do an app and data restore from BO 2.0 (even 3.0 restores either fail or still crash on launch, or the data restore does not take effect. ie a data restore on fancy widgets does not unlock the pro key unless i do it from a BO 2.0 backup. Note this is also affects BO 3.0)

Other than that, i like the theming, but cannot tell a difference in usage. (Might have been a bit snappier, but cannot tell now.)

I think I'm going to flash blitz kernel because I keep getting java hang ups and engine lags with popcorn. It's probably just my settings but I'll see how blitz does.

I'm running blitz (on eclipse) as well and it seems to be doing good. No reboots and running smooth. 1.8 lag free governor.

Yeah...I am noticing that too. My wife's phone though, is my test model. Reason is, her phone as stock would reboot ALL THE TIME so I was glad when I was able to get a solution for her. On popcorn and BO 2, her phone went back to rebooting more. I since have flashed it with BO 3 with Blitz on SAv2 and 1.8 at BFQ and she has not had any reboots...we will continue to watch.

Mine is going to be changed to lag free to see if I can gain more battery.

If you want to save battery don't overclock. Underclock if anything. Also use conservative governor.

So I flashed blitz with eclipse last night and found it drains the battery fat more in standby mode than BO. I went to bed @ 92% and when I woke up (8hrs) it was at 78%. BO usually drains 1-2% overnight.

You should try to restore user App + Data through Rom Toolbox Pro. It worked flawlessly for me and no force close whatsoever. I'm currently using Eclipse w/Blitz kernel and no random reboots

I've found RTB does NOT restore more than 10 apps at a time with either BO or Eclipse. Doing so sends a hangup java error to the OS and it reboots. If you restore apps 10 or less @ a time, you'll have no issues... that's what I do now.

But the number #1 thing I found responsible for random reboots is saved/restored app data with RTB. Either it's corrupted by RTB or the data was bad to begin with, but my last flash only restored data to 1 app and I haven't had a random reboot since.
