EDGE for Boost $69.99 @ Radio Shack black friday

Is it worth it?

My current Boost phone is dying and I'm mostly broke but the price seems good and better specs than my ZTE Warp.

There isn't much info or mods for the edge yet so to anybody that has it do you think its a good deal?
 
Well after more flashes than I can count (I made a rom for the warp and tested on my own phone as well as trying other roms and kernels) more times of being dropped than is funny and most recently falling and bouncing off the steel bumper of my truck & landing in slush it isn't doing well at all.
No matter what I do signal is low or none existant even where it was full before. Wifi is the same way. It freezes up and reboots at least once an hour even if I'm not using it. Touch input isn't working right half the time & I can go on but I think I've made my point but basicly its doing what my Evo did just before it turned itself off and never worked again.
 
yikes. well i would wait until cwm comes to the phone. we at the other kyocera forums are waiting on cwm to be ported but its hard due to the phone locked down. id go with a different phone that has that option of cwm. with no cwm on these phones its dangerous to do anything to them.the only thing available to the phone is root and thats it. wait for cwm to become available to it.
 
Idk if you went for it or not but I got one thinks to seeing your post about the sale. Normally $149 here so saved $80. I too had the warp (got it the day it came out) not a bad phone but the Edge blows it away
 
In fact I did grab one this morning and have been playing the with it all day.
So far it seems better than the warp for the most part but haven't decided on keeping it yet (they said I have 30 days to return it) I figure if by the middle to end of next week it seems good I'll keep it and root it. Hopefully by them there will be a safe to remove app list.
 
Guess the EDGE was a bad idea... it locked up on a factory reset and now wont boot past the boot animation (its not even a bootloop just sets there & doesn't replay)
 
Yep lots of roms and fixes for issues it may have. And IMHO still the second best phone Boost has right after the SGS3.

My mind about exploded when I saw they got iPhones... I just hate icrud products.

i despise iphones myself too closed sourced they are. i hate them so much. they all have the same interface no true customizations for them
 
for a little bit more, you can get optimus f3, and it is way better, plus has lte.
radio shack had them for as low as $69 recently. You can spend same amount monthly for vm as for boost, or even less.

I know the specs are better on the edge but it ran slower (my friend has one too and is slow as well) than the prevail 2 that I had and others I played with)
I know about keeping a phone maintained as I had my ZTE warp a long time but even that out preformed the edge.

It has been my experience and the experience of everybody I personally know (and even random people I've talked to) that for the most part the hydro line is junk. I've seen the best hydro is the xtrm version that boost doesn't carry (go figure).

Sorry if I insulted you I realize all phones have there ups & downs, that everybody uses phones differently, & that just because 1 phone had issues doesn't mean they all will but I stated my opinion from what I've seen.
