If the rumored specs become a reality I won't nitpick about the edge feature. On a side note...no pun intended, Best Buy Mobile at my local mall today offered to let me sign up as a pre-order for it! I didn't do it but I was sorely tempted.

I really miss being able to pre-order from Best Buy, as well as subsidized upgrades, but being on a network that has been 10x's more reliable (at the same price I was paying before w/ a corporate discount) seems worth the sacrifice. Surprised that pre-orderes are being offered this early!
 
I suspect the pre-order was an unauthorized one. Most likely he is trying to get an edge up on when the phone does go on sale by having a list of people that he can enter the info for and make his sales skyrocket on day one. Makes for a nice commission.

But can someone explain how theoretically the iris scanner will work?

Will users have to hold it up to their eye? will it work in the dark?

Theoretically, the iris scanner will look into your eyes as soon as you look at the phone. Shouldn't be any unnecessary staring at it. As far as how well it would work in various lighting conditions, we'll have to wait until August 2nd for details.

man that would be so cool if it could work just like that. I tried looking up info on the company Patron who is reportedly behind the component but to no avail.

Really excited for this phone!

been using this g3 for about a year too long. ha
 
Obviously, it's getting closer and closer to announcement because more "rumors" are piling up and blogs/articles are trying to do their best to make the "best guess" on what will actually be offered. We'll see what's announced, but I have a feeling that the recent rumors about a "flat" Note 7 were nothing more than just rumors and Samsung has already decided to produce edge versions:

I bought the S6 edge but returned it after a week as it was just too small for me and I hated the lack of an external SD card slot. I didn't see much use for the edge then other than aesthetics and I don't now for the Note but I can honestly say it is not a deal breaker. No external storage... now that would be a deal breaker!

I was holding out hope against hope for a 4K UHD screen (for Gear VR purposes), but I guess I'll start saving up on the side for next year's Note 8. Meanwhile, bring on August 2nd - five weeks away! :D
 
So excited for the 2nd. Visual leaks should be coming soon too :).

How soon after the 2nd do you expect the phone to be available?

Black for me... black goes with everything (or so the fashionistas tell me).

I went to the Verizon store and fondled both the Galaxy S7 Edge and the Note 5, trying to reconcile the two in my mind. I think this will be a very comfortable, very capable device. One month to go! :D
 
I could likely end up getting silver or blue, but I am waiting to see what kind of deals are available for t-mobile. If they do a bogo free deal like they did with the s7 release, I will get 2. If not, I will decide based on whichever looks better in person. And then whichever I get for T-mobile, I'll see if they offer a similar carrier unlocked version like the s7 and buy a second later down the line.

If the blue is more subtle and like a grayish blue, then I may lean that direction. Otherwise, Titanium silver would be my choice. That is simply due to my tendency to lean towards blue, silver or grey anything. The black onyx Samsung offers is very nice though.
 
I just can't go for the blue. It would clash with any case if I got one as the case would be pink. I like the black. I have had white for several years now and the change would be nice.
