Root Edited build.prop & Phone won't boot

I have a N9005 which has the stock Samsung ROM, the only modification made is that it's rooted with the Odin method.

I edited the build.prop file, and the system is stuck in a bootloop (just blank screen after the animated Samsung Logo).
I made a backup of the build.prop file on the extSdCard.

What's the best way to get the phone recovered? (hopefully without doing a factory reset).

I tried using ADB but it doesn't recognise the phone (even with Samsung Drivers installed). When I boot into recovery mode the options are:
1) Reboot System Now
2) Apply Update from ADB
3) Apply Update from External Storage
4) Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5) Wipe Cache Partition
6) Apply Update from Cache

PLEASE tell me you made a nandroid backup before you started editing system files... you have no alternative at this point than to reflash the phone. And until ADB recognizes the phone (it may or may not), it'll be very difficult - if not impossible - to do that. You may very well have to send the phone to Samsung for a reflash: something that will cost time and money.

A factory reset deletes user data and clears the caches... it doesn't touch the /system partition. So a factory reset will not help you. If you can somehow get the stock ROM onto external memory, you MIGHT be able to install it that way but it's a long shot.

You can try flashing the stock firmware via Odin.
Any time you make any modifications to /system, always backup system in recovery first.
Changing a single build prop, screen density, even removing a single system app can potentially cause a device to not boot. Even just changing permissions on a system app can do it.
Root basics, backup, backup, oh and backup some more.

I pray that you see this as I am in quite a bind! I also made this mistake and am really really stuck. I live in the US, but my phone is a Samsung Golden (Korean Type) "Smart Flip-Phone" so my resources are limited. I too did not make a nandroid backup just like OP.

However, I have thought of a solution. I repurchased the same phone via amazon and am hoping that I can make a nandroid copy of this new phone and use said copy to restore mine. Would this work? Also, as I am a total novice at all of this (and really have no idea what a nandroid backup even is) how would I go about doing this in odin if it could work?
