editing and saving word document via pc

Both docs to go and polaris save word documents in .doc format and when I connect to pc and edit, the changes cannot be saved because word saves in .docx so I have to save it as a new document on the pc and copy back to my note 10.1? Help!

I would update Office on your pc to save by default to .doc. Another option is to use Google Docs (drive) and save and edit the files there. Drive is cloud based so you don't have to copy the docs back and forth.
