editing multiple phonebooks?

mzzxx11

Newbie
are there apps which alow to manage/edit multiple phonebooks and load each, as necessary?

for example, if I travel overseas, I want to store beforehand a set of useful phone numbers, but I dont need them back home.
so can I create an "overseas" phonebook, and load it, and only it, while travelling, and then restore the "normal" phonebook when I've returned?

I saw the CWM7 has an import/export function, would importing contacts add them to existing ones, or will the phone show only the imported contacts?

do I have to "load" the phonebook I want to edit, or I can just update it as a file, and just load when I need it?

any apps to recommend which offer what Im looking for?

TIA

No special app or separate phone books needed. In the standard contacts app create groups as needed - for example, 'Overseas' 'Home' and 'Business' - and assign contacts to the appropriate group. Then in contacts settings choose to display only the group(s) you want to see at a given time.

tnx, but I dont see any "groups" option. Im on CWM7 on SE x10 mini pro.

plus, I'd rather have different files with different contacts (home, travel, etc.)

any suggestions?

TIA

??? Never seen a contacts app that won't display groups.

Sorry, but I fail to see why. Seems like just a lot of extra unnecessary complication. AFAIK everyone uses groups for the functionality you want.

I don't know of anything that will do what you describe with separate files. You would have to either setup separate accounts or maybe save your 'Overseas' contacts to phone only and others to your Google account so you could customize the contacts shown in separate files that way. Either of those methods is a hassle with serious drawbacks.
