.edu e-mail addresses

Hi, so I have a couple of different e-mail addresses, including a .edu address. I was hoping to be able to connect them all to one app and still be able to use them as separate addresses (so not forwarding through g-mail), but I haven't been able to find a way to use any of the mail apps to recognize .edu addresses. Does anyone know of an effective way to do it?

I go to USC (which uses g-mail for its mail interface, but the address is still @usc.edu) and am using a mytouch 4g. Thanks for any help!

What is it you don't like about the gmail solution? The gmail app was updated recently to allow you to send via any of your linked email addresses (not just the default one), if that's what you mean.

".edu addresses" doesn't mean anything as different universities use different email systems. Some are POP accounts, some are IMAP, some use Google Apps, some use Live@EDU, some use Exchange...

Determine the types of email accounts, get the settings (check with the helpdesk) -- it's like setting up any other email account. You can probably even Google the info. I've done this countless times for threads just like this.

Are you specifying the full email address as the user ID in the gmail app? Failing that, try Googling "Google Apps Android". I don't know if the hits have the most recent info but you can always filter results by date. Don't forget that Google's web search is out there and very useful if you actually use it. ;)

I use my .ac.uk email address just fine so I assume other gmail driven ones will work.

Just go to your accounts and sync menu and add a new account by entering your full email address and password then choose what you would like to sync (emails, calender etc...)

The only problem I had was I usually use @shef.ac.uk but had to enter @sheffield.ac.uk to get my phone to recognise it as a gmail account.

You need to contact your school's IT department and have them help you set up the accounts. My school features how-to's for every type of phone on their website, since so many people are trying to get email on their phone's these days.

My .edu address is through Google Apps and works just fine with the native Gmail client. If you can't get it to work then as sitlet suggested, contact your IT department.

Make sure IMAP is enabled on your school email account.
