Help EL29 Update

I was told last night by a rep, and this morning confirmed with a store rep -
this EL29 update is being pulled because of all the issues. If you receive it, you should not install it. They are send another mid Feb.
 
Wow. Hopefully someone "official" can confirm whether or not the EL29 is going to be pulled. How do they pull it? Can it be uninstalled somehow from the phone?

Glad I'm in waiting mode ... maybe I won't have to allow the update after all!
 
FWIW, my phone updated yesterday with no problem. I don't see that much difference other than the home screen changes (which are OK with me) and the new Phone icon. Having CIQ removed is a nice plus, but not a big deal to me. A boring but harmless update from my POV.
 
I updated my phone this morning. After it finished, I had a notification saying that my SD card is damaged. All of my songs are gone, too. If you click the notification, it asks if you want to format the SD card. I haven't done that yet, but the problem still exists. I even re-booted the phone, once with the card in, then again with it out, then one last time with it back in. Nothing helped.

When you had the card out of the phone, did you try using a micro SD adapter and an SD card reader on your computer to verify weather or not your files are still on the card? If you can read it with your computer, then just copy the files to your computer, re-format the SD card, then copy the files back from the computer to the SD card.

Not yet. I plan to try that when I get home.
 
Updated this morning. Not a fan of the non-scrolling wallpapers, but the live wallpaper I'm currently using isn't too affected by it (it's a snowy live wallpaper). Everything else so far seems to be ok. My SD card was not affected, and I still have all my music on there.

I believe everyone who has updated lost wallpaper scrolling and a couple of live wallpapers ... pretty much confirmed that's part of what the update does. The non-scrolling wallpaper is part of a change where the home screens "wrap" ... you don't get one without losing the other. Whether that's an improvement depends on your taste. Not sure why they got rid of a couple of the live wallpapers ... that's a little harder to explain (possibly just a mistake, but that would be an odd mistake).
 
I'm still in watch-and-wait mode regarding EL29. A question though ... if I do not want to update at all, is there a way to stop the notifications that an update awaits?
 
I got EL29 OTA this morning. Among the other reported changes, I now notice that:

SETTINGS---DISPLAY---HORIZONTAL CALIBRATION is now missing.

Can anyone that just got EL29 check to see if theirs is missing too please?
 
And update to the issue I reported earlier.

When I plugged my phone in to my computer, the 'Damaged SD Card' notification went away, so I decided to upload my music again. For whatever reason, it was completely gone. However, after uploading everything, I still couldn't find it. I thought maybe it needed to do a media scan, so I rebooted the phone. That wasn't it. Still no music and the notification reappeared. So I finally resorted to agreeing to reformat the card. I'm not sure it actually reformatted it, though. It was real quick and none of the apps I had on there were missing. So, one more music upload session. This time everything seems to be working correctly. I have no idea why it deleted all of my music and said my SD card was damaged, but it did. Oh well. Everything seems to be good now.
 
I got the automatic notification yesterday morning. I haven't noticed anything in the negative. I use a live wallpaper so wouldn't have noticed the non-scrolling wallpaper. Are there really that many bugs in this update as some are suggesting, or is it getting overblown like sometimes happens. That would really suck to have an update on my phone that is being pulled for bugs, since I'm guessing we can't go backwards, short of rooting and reimaging.

Is there a way to revert/disable these changes? I actually really liked my wallpaper panning with my launcher panels, and i could really care less about the looping left/right.

Am rather frustrated that there is not an option for this to be enabled/disabled, at least not one i can find.

Help?
 
anyone use foursquare or have a weather widget that updates locations ? Reason I ask is because after this EL29 update my locations wont refresh in foursquare or on beautiful widgets ... i dont keep GPS on all day due to battery life ... i only have the " USE WIRELESS NETWORKS" box checked which was working flawlessly before this update ... I have already done a soft and hard reset and nothing ... Ive been tweeting @GalaxySsupport all day and the last response I got was "Sorry! I have passed this info along for evaluation. The only other option is to send your device in. Let me know, ^jc #EpicTouch" anyone else having this issue ???

Here's an up-date to my rant/post three days ago.
After calling Sprint a number of times I learned that there was some cell tower work being done the same day and night I up graded......
Now since then I have had no more problems with the time or battery drain. (And I have been checking regularly).
OK, maybe the up date is OK??????

I'm having the same battery life issues that others have mentioned. I am a light user of my phone and I used to get 48 hours on a charge, now I'm down to 24 hours. Here is a screeen shot of my battery usage.

I am getting way better battery life, and everything is going smooth since the update. I even get way better GPS.
I was told by a radio shack person, that his boss called Sprint to tell them all the problems he was having and they did a FACTORY RESET, and it got rid o the update.

I have read on other forums that you can have the scrolling screen with other Launchers..such as Go Launcher, and others!
 
This update has really screwed up my phone. I keep getting error 67 messages come up all the time, my 3G isn't working, battery life has improved some. Really enjoyed the scrolling wallpaper. Keyboard keeps adding words i havent touched and when i delete them and push the right button it adds the deleted words again. Dropped calls/distorts the voices while in a call. Please tell me samsung has responded to these bugs.
 
The update pissed me off. No scrolling wallpapers which means some purchased live wallpapers are rendered useless. Some live wallpapers were removed. No locked axis web page scrolling. The network location is not working well meaning if you have a weather application the cities don't change as you move based on where you are. There were some other things but I can't remember.

Some nice things:

Sound while playing games seems fixed.
CIQ gone.
 
Since EL29, I have problems with the phone going to a screen I rarely ever use, when it shouldn't. Also, the phone keeps announcing when ever anyone calls or texts, in addition to the assigned ring tone. There has to be a way to fix these issues.
 
I also noticed that my AP news widget is no longer able to access the news service. So I downloaded the regular app and it works perfectly, but the one that came on the phone to begin with, no longer works.
