I am new to android, and ideally what to be able to use the email function as I have done on my iphone - ie it pulls the emails down but I do not then loose them from the tablet when I download them to my main computer from the server - is this possible?

Or is it possible to store the emails so that they can be used/answered later

thanks

Any Android device can do what you want. It's not dependent on the particular device or email app, it's how you configure it.

Thanks, which means I am failing to configure it correctly, are you able to point me in the right direction?

NO, the setting are all fine, from another thread there does seem to be a problem with Android devices allowing you to store emails so you still have them once they are downloaded from the server, am going to try K9 and see if that allows me to save them

Nope

so does anyone know a way to save emails using android in a way that does not then also remove them from the host server so that they can also be downloaded onto my main computer - iphones do this so I assume androids can some-how but how
?

thanks

There is an equivalent setting in the account settings in my mail client (Kaiten, paid version of K9), under the "fetching mail" subcategory. I expect K9 has it too.

K9 definitely lets you store mail on the device for offline use. That was the reason I used it for 2 years before switching to Kaiten. But I should add that I don't remove mail from the server when I download to the laptop either - just sync deletes across all devices. I guess you want to do the opposite and unsync deletes on the phone.

Just found the way of storing copies of emails in the achieve folder on k9, thanks

will look into unsyncing deletes as well
