Email Authentication Failed on Galaxy S4

I just purchased the Samsung Galaxy S4. When setting up my email account, I keep getting an authentication failed error message. I have deleted the account and started over but keep getting the same message. Any advice would be helpful.

Connect to the account on a computer, using exactly the same address and password. See if it fails there too, or if you can spot differences in what you're typing on the phone. (Let the account set up automatically - selecting the wrong authentication when setting it up manually causes he same error.)

It could also have something to do with the type of email account it is.
