Help Email Client-- Saving to Folders

I'm an Android newbie...

I'd like to save emails on the phone to various folders. I can create them but all the standard app and the gmail app seem to do is put them in the 'saved email' folder. Of course I can manually move them to other folders that I'd make as subfolders of the 'saved email' folder but that's a drag.

Am I missing something, or is there another client that will do this?

Thanks in advance!

What are you trying to do by changing the default folders? THe email files and folders are not meant to be accessed directly with a file browser on any other tool...

Are you trying to save a hard copy to the phone or move the email within gmail to another folder (Give it a tag)?

I think I might be having a problem in moving from the iPhone to Android. On the iPhone and on the mail program on my mac you can save emails in different folders like "save for all time", "save short time", "vacation planning." That's what I want to do and I want to store them on the phone, since sometimes we travel out of the US and I can't expect to have connectivity.

Does this make sense? If so, how can I solve the problem (or can i)?
