Email client - What do you use?

Hey!

What email client do you use on your S3. I have two email accounts, one Gmail and one Exchange account for work. Currently using Gmail and the stock Samsung client for my exchange.

The stock client sucks and keeps turning the screen brightness right down when it opens making it unusable :(

So anyway what client do you use! :D

I use just one gmail account on my phone so have always just used the gmail app. I've never been a great fan of it but it seemed to make sense to use it. They finally added pinch to zoom yesterday but the amount you can zoom in is really restricted and to be honest the font is often too small for me. It kind of always has been (even on largest font size) and I waited for pimch to zoom to correct this but it hasn't so I looked elsewhere...

Tried maildroid and aqua mail. Aqua mail is quite frankly fantastic on my half day of testing so far. If it stays that way I will pay for the app. It can do push gmail using imap idle and has many more opritions than the gmail app. Pinch to zoom works great and text is much more readable for me. I'd defo check it out, Maildroid also seemed nice but the free version contained ads which annoy me. I'm happy to pay for aps if I like them but find it hard to learn to like them if the free versions have an annoying app banner!

I use the stock email ap but I don't like it either. I have 3 pop3 accounts on it, plus gmail, of course. It seems to do the job. One thing I just figured out is that it doesn't load the emails right away. You have to open an email and scroll to the bottom and click on load more details or whatever it says there. PITA.
I've been thinking about K9 but haven't made the jump yet. still lurking...

Aqua Mail for me too - I tried out all the obvious contenders, as well as some of the less obvious ones, but kept coming back to Aqua Mail.

If you only need to run two email accounts, you probably won't have to rush into paying for the app - although I do generally try to support good developers. Here are the differences between the free and pro versions "The unlocker lets you configure more than two accounts, use identities (aliases), and removes the promo signature at the bottom of each outgoing message".

hi,

i hate gmail - its awful! :( the only g-ware that i dislike more is google groups - yuck! nasty :(

i use Enhanced email - great app and dev - i use it for gmail but in exchange stylee - proper email like folders and functionality - fab :)

cheers

I use touchdown for exchange server for my work as it has higher security settings and I can sandbox the email account from my phone.
I use gmail for gmail. I use maildroid for yahoo, cox and hotmail emails.

There is an option in the settings to allow more data to come through so you don't always have to hit Load More Details. You have to setup each email account separately. I have several accounts and in each I had to go to Settings-> Choose Account "MSN" for example -> Select "Size to retrieve emails" -> This opens a list of selections 4KB,5KB,7KB,10KB,20KB,50KB,100KB or ALL. Select ALL and you shouldn't have to ever hit the Load more Details again .

Aqua mail is the only decent email client I've found for android so far. I've had android for about a week and am horrified by how bad the default email app is. K9 is no better. This app is good

anyone know the difference in terms of battery life between using the gmail app or setting up gmail using imap idle or exhange? I understand gmail uses some special protocol for push that only the gmail app can use so thats not an option in other apps. To get push on aqua mail I'm using imap idle which works great but I'm not completely convinced about battery life. Still early days and I don't mind if its a teeny bit worse but not a lot worse. In my iphone days I set up gmail as an exchange account and it worked great so is this a better option?

I had never heard of aqua mail before this thread. Very nice client. The only thing is that I don't see any way to move an email into a folder that's not syncing. That's a problem . Did I miss something?

No, I don't think imap idle uses any more battery than Gmail app. I would actually prefer setting up my Gmail as exchange though because when setting up as imap, read state isn't properly passed (if I mark as read online, the imap client never picks it up) . Unfortunately, I haven't found a client that works the way I want and supports exchange activesync. I need a client that will allow me to use an alias as my from and reply to addresses. Aqua does but doesn't support exchange. Any that support exchange don't

the aqua mail developer seems really active at advancing and improving his app and he is very good at answering questions and considering requests if you check out the web site. I have read on there that he is intending to speak with microsoft about getting an activesync licence so support for gmail as an exchange account may well turn up soon

My only choices there are 1.5 kb, 60 kb, or 100 kb. that's it.
How do I get to "all"?
