Help EMail force closing every time i try to save attachments.

this just started about a week ago...phone was working wonderful before that. now, every time i get an email with pics, i go to save the pic and i get a force close box. i can open them fine, but can't save them. any ideas on how to fix this? i've read some places (searching on Google) about installing this app and that app...i don't see why i would need to do that. i've had this same phone over a year and for over a year it's worked flawlessly. not sure why i'd suddenly need a new app to do what the stock app has been doing fine all this time. but i'm open to any suggestions...even shooting it with a SCUD missile at this point. thanks in advance!
