Help Email icon notifications not showing in bar

On my notifications bar, whenever my gmail and pop3 server from work get a new email in them I do not get an email notification in the top bar. I get it when my phone reboots but not throughout the course of the day. I am using the standard email app that comes stock. Can anyone help me so that the display icon shows up on the icon tray when I recieve a new email? I get it for messaging and missed calls, just not emails =(.

Are you running a stock OS, or modified? Are you running any sort of task killer app that is automatically killing GMail / email tasks?

I am running Bitchin Bagel 2.0.5 but this problem was occuring before I rooted/re Romed with the Stock OS. I am running advanced task killer but I have the stock email app set as an exception.

Try running the phone without ATM actually running in the background for a day and see what happens.
