Help Email Issues With Native App

Hi,
I recently switched from an S3 to an M8.
I set up my Blueyonder email account using imap settings in the native email app and set it to show all emails.
It works fine on wifi but at work I only get a G data connection and it wouldn't sync emails at all.
After a bit of investigation I think what it's doing is downloading every email each time it syncs, taking forever and using reasonable amounts of my data allowance in the process.
If I change the settings to only sync the last 3 days, that's all that gets shown in my inbox which is of little use to me.
Am I right in my assumption or do I have a setting wrong somewhere?
If I am right, can someone suggest an alternative email app which works with imap, shows all my emails and only syncs new emails.
