My non gmail account (verizon account) will not update when i'm not at my house without turning off wifi. Has anyone seen this issue before??

what APP are you using to check that account?
if its verizons own app or another app, that app might be designed to only pull data over the mobile network, not on wifi.
if thats the case, tough luck. its a badly made app.
