Help Email Notification Numbers

I have a Galaxy On5, and when I get an email, there's a little number by the button I press that takes me to my email accounts. Is there a way to make it so when I just go into the inbox, the numbers disappear? Currently I have to browse the email to make the number disappear, and I'm wondering if the number notification can disappear if I just go into the inbox.

That little number tells you of unread mail. If you don't view the email, it will stay there.
