It looks like other people have had a problem similar to mine, but I don't see any solutions suggested.
I have two problems.
The first is, I DON'T want to get a notification sound when I get an email, and I don't want my email checked every 15 minutes. I change the settings in the main email program to Check once an hour, and Silent, and it goes right back to Check every 15 min and back to my regular notification tone. I also have Gmail installed but the preferences in there are sticking properly.
I DO want to get a sound notification when I get a text. However, if I go to the basic settings and turn off notifications, it turns off both email and text notification sounds, no matter how I have my text message settings configured.
An earlier poster had a problem with email notifications, and he uninstalled Zedge. I had Zedge, I uninstalled it, but I'm not sure it made any difference.
